Yes. I've been using the Ubuntu Classic Session (GNOME 2.32) on Natty because I didn't find Unity easy to customize (but I'm planning to give Unity on Oneiric a chance).
You're right! But Oneiric's version should be better.. at least the dash and the launcher share the same color of the background! Is far from being customizable, but it's a start
