To establish himself as the 6th ranger of Ichigo's team

Well the captains know everything. Urahara, Yoruichi and Soifon know about the time paradox and that his real name is Lelouch vi Britannia. The phantoms know the part about his real name, but they know nothing about the temporal paradox

And Ichigo and his nakama are completely left in the dark

Yeah but all the damage she was taking in the process FROM holding back and STILL had the ability to curb stomp him into the ground shows how badass she is even after getting scruffed up a bit

Thank you :)
No Shonen style power up during THIS arc, just some natural increase in endurance, strength, dexterity etc.
The whole reason lelouch is going from the bottom arc is very akin to Goku and Krillin's training in dragon ball. If you extend your human limitations and if Ichigo becomes stronger as a human he will naturally EXPLODE when he ups to Shikai and Bankai.

Hey same for the Adjuchas then. If Aaroniero is the ONLY Gillian that means Grimm and Luppi were both Adjuchas and Grimm RIPPED THE MESS out of Luppi. Imagine what would've happened if he fought Zommari or Szayel hmm?

Talbumosuke is reading this stuff out of Aizen's notes and documentation. Reports have to be written very descriptively in the military. Word of God himself confirms that there is a sector of the Seireitei archives that contains ALL POSSIBLE INFORMATION THAT IS THERE WHETHER ONE WANTS IT TO BE THERE OR NOT. That being said, only the captains only the captains have proper access.
How else would Aizen be able to make the calculated decision to create Wonderweiss. Surely the man isn't THAT insecure in his own superority that he wouldn't think, without prior knowledge that he is not stronger than Yamamoto

Like I said, Gin no longer has a reason to Heel Face Turn except to get the Hogyoku. Gin's SOLE REASON for becoming a SOUL REAPER (never mind a captain that was all to stay as Aizen's second) was to get the Hogyoku. With Aizen gone, Gin decided he'd try and backstab Tal and take the Hogyoku. Now Talbumosuke is promising it to him in exchange for his loyalty. He even EXPLICITLY STATES that if Gin doesn't consent to cooperation that he'll outright kill him. As far as Talbumosuke knows Gin has nothing him personally. He just wants the Hogyoku. He has no reason to believe Gin has Chronic Backstabbing disorder. How is Talbumosuke supposed to know that Gin and Lelouch have some common ground and that Gin will betray him if Lelouch can give him a better counter offer. He can't. Talbumosuke is not that smart. Doing that would make him omnipotent and too close to Aizen. He is the unskilled but strong to Aizen's weak but skilled. However, he will ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS lack in the planning and intelligence department in comparison to his sensei. Talbumosuke, while a good gambiter (after all the retreat fell right within the margins of his plans) CAN be outgambitted. It's hard, but it's not impossible. He is VERY BAD at Xanatos Speed Chess. He can make a very complex and successful Xanatos Gambit but he is not skilled enough to properly play Xanatos Speed Chess

lol

More or less
I've had a few people congratulate the hilarity of the MP omake. One person was completely lost for not knowing what Monty Python is (heresay and blasphemy I know)

Really? Shinji, sixth ranger?

I see.

I'm saying, we can't really know how good she is. I think she could have taken Halibel since Halibel's one rank lower and uses a much slower weapon than hers, but that's speculation.

One hopes the difference isn't too godmoddily great.
(DBZ had a justification for most of their absurd ass power-ups. It was a crappy, unfair, broken justification, but at least Toriyama bothered to make up an explanation. Kubo, not so much.)

Yes, quite so. I just imagined the Vasto Lorde were, I dunno, a class on their own- I haven't actually given this much thought. Given how the top four were Vasto Lorde and all of them died miserably (excepting Halibel) without so much as inflicting a casualty, the ominousness and absolute power of the Vasto Lorde seem overhyped.
Speaking of which, will you have the balls to do what Kubo didn't and have a few good character Killed Off For Real in the final battle? I can't see Tal as the kind of overlord who casually watched his minions die, or let his enemies live in the most important battle he ever fought.

Wonderweiss, Plot Device. But yeah... shoddy justification, but at least it's a justification.

The thing is... Gin is a sadist and a sociopath, and compulsively homicidal at that. I can't really see him settling for a happy life with lots of political power; he'd be more likely to turn just for the hell of it.
Good thing Tal has no idea.

This young, dumb generation with its ignorance of quality comedy... *sigh* Well hey, at least I was well received :D

Yes.

It is speculation and Hallibel is a FRICKEN SPEED DEMON!
It's not obvious in her battle with Hitsugaya cause they're playing Elemental Rock Paper Scissors, but had she fought with full brute force most opponents would've been a thing of the past. Supposedly if Kubo does bring her back we'll get to see this.

Like I said it's simple basic principles of logic in this case. If Ichigo does erupt in skill it won't be due to any shonen protagonistic upgrade: Lelouch enhanced his physical body and thereby exponentially exploded the power of his shikai and bankai
If we assume that Ichigo is twice as strong in shikai as he is human form and ichigo's base power is 100 (this is just for simple math) then his Shikai is 200 and if his Bankai is 5 times his Shikai then he is 1000 in bankai and with his mask Ichigo is 5 times that of his Bankai so that brings him to 5000. Simple math is that 5*5*2 is 50. If Lelouch expands Ichigo's human limit to say 200 It brings his full power to 10000. Doing so in just Shikai and raising him from 200 to 300 would only bring his hollowfication to a mere 7500. So, Lelouch is working Ichigo up the power ladder, increasing his weakest form to EXPLODE his most powerful form. It's simple logic and math

Will I have the balls to do that when push comes to shove? ...maybe. I know I need Hitsugaya alive for a future arc, but I have considered the possibility of Stefan and/or Kendra dying and Yoruichi and/or Soifon getting reinstated to the Gotei, which would be awesome, but I'm not sure how to justify it. Sajin can die he's absolutely useless and I don't care much for him. I want to hold off on the possibility that I will kill Shunsui and Ukitake simply to prove how absolutely badass Talbumosuke is, unless I did something like say "Pity, if you had used your bankai from the start, you might've inflicted a serious injury, but by holding back, you let me win. Too bad for you."
 I'll see what I come up with. Right now I don't have a clue what I'm going to do for the battle so I need to wait until I come up with a battle plan and I only have an idea for half a chapter at the moment so I haven't updated Soul Chess or started work on ch 70 because of this very principle.

He probably will once he has what he wants. There's no guarantee he won't turn the moment he has everything he desires, but by that time it'll be too late for him to do much of anything. And besides there's nothing saying he won't be given absolute freedom to do as he pleases. He might and Tal might just cover it up or frame someone else if he finds he has the power.

Well it's not so much the quality so much that the age group I identified will be the ones more inclined to find humor in it.

Halibel, a "speed demon"? Based on what? SHe hasn't shown herself to be specialized in speed, and there's not even speed as an Informed Ability about her. It's not obvious at all. Her fighting style, as shown, seems to be based on powerful moves. Unless you can validate this with, I dunno, something from the manual or whatever, then I see no reason to believe she is. Mind you, I'm not saying she couldn't be a speedster, just that we haven't seen any indication that's her specialty.

Why, though, would Ichigo's human body growing stronger increase his reiatsu exponentially? The two aren't necessarily the same. (Besides, it's not as if Ichigo needs more reiatsu. What he needs is skill. And a brain.)
And Ichigo in shikai is vastly stronger than his human body. A human form doesn't even compare. I'd put human!Ichigo at 5, and shikai Ichigo at 100.

I seriously hope you do. It's a war, and the circumstances justify killing off plenty of characters. The canon justified it- I would say the situation would logically even demand it- and this situation even more so. At least three characters I think, ought to die properly, two captains minimum.

Just what was it Tal offered him? Wealth and power probably wouldn't interest him, so I assume Rangiku is the only thing Tal can offer.

I referred to that one person ignorant of Monty Python. :D Hmm... I wonder which omake was the most popular? Would be interesting to know, since it would give me a heads up on what the crowd likes.

Not specialized in Speed? Hitsugaya is a Jack of All Trades IN COMPARISON TO OTHER CAPTAINS. He is very fast in his own right. Upon her initial release she tore through him like butter BEFORE HE COULD BLINK. Remember what he said: "I didn't think you'd become that fast upon releasing I didn't want to have to use my ice clone so soon."
By Word of God, Hallibel has more capability than shown. Hitsugaya was the best to fight her. (I believe such is even admitted in the manga if I'm not mistaken). Because of this she restricted herself to water Vs Ice as a means of precaution because attacking head on wouldn't work

In other words she went Elemental Rock Paper Scissors because Attack Attack Attack would've gotten her potentially killed.

Look, I was just doing basic math to do simpler calculations. If you want to stretch the proportion that much fine by me.
The idea is that his reiatsu won't be what's increasing, but his skill level and if he can become more skillful he becomes stronger. His unskilled aspect of the Unskilled but strong dies away and Ichigo becomes that much more lethal. He can use the full extent of the power at his disposal.

Sajin and Tosen then or Sajin and Stefan or Tosen and Stefan or I'll kill Mayuri. He's beenasking for it for LOOONG TIME

He guaranteed Rangiku's safety and Gin the Hogyoku, which he wants. He also said they could live happily so long as Gin remains loyal to him.
That's not to say that he would kill them if they did not do so or he would kill Rangiku if Gin turned. In actuality he's just offering extra protection, if Gin didn't care, neither would Tal. He's not saying he'll kill Ran if Gin betrays. If Gin betrays or acts suspicious then it is Gin putting his life at risk. Rangiku is just the achilees heel Tal can use to rein Gin in. Gin goes down on his first offense

it would wouldn't
Greatkingrat88's avatar
Everyone in this entire series at that level is ridiculously fast. Hitsugaya's skilled, but so is Shunsui, Byakuya, Tosen... my point is that she's fast, very fast, but so is the entirety of the cast as well. We see nothing to indicate she's specialized in it above and beyond the standard level.
Her cutting down Hitsugaya was a very fast, long range attack, wasn't it? We didn't see her move herself. Even if we assume it was her moving directly, it doesn't actually make her a speed specialist in the same way that running one fast lap doesn't make you an olympics champion in running.
So simply put, she's fast- just like everyone else.

I see. Well, Ichigo learning basic skill is what he needs. That, and restraint.

You should try killing one of the popular characters, not just the disposable ones. Ukitake, Kenpachi, Shunsui... it would make an impact, and it would seriously move the fic towards being more dark and interesting.

Gin wants the hogyoko... doubtif Tal would be stupid enough to give it to him, though.
On another note, what is it Gin wants to restore to Rangiku?

ff.net poll?
draconichero18's avatar
Well, I have reason to believe in ways you wouldn't concretely accept that she's fast. If it's not documented simply put I make it so because it suits me. If you consider the games non-canon consider levels of ability with discretion from a Gameplay Story Segregation expert to be able to give me proper parameters to compare them to the actual series till further detail is given

Oh you'll see restraint. I just set up a battle map for the Round 1 of the Fake Karakura Town. I have Ichigo being kept on a tight leash. He's not even allowed to fight Talbumosuke unless ordered to do so, no matter how much he wants to help. His dad is instructed to prevent Ichigo from getting involved in the fight.

I have reason to believe, these are just my own personal feelings, that fighting the Espada caused the captains and lieutenants to expel so much reiatsu already that by the time Aizen showed up he could match them easily. While they didn't show it on their faces (who would be stupid enough) without replenshing their energy, it would be obvious. Even Shinji mentions they're in pretty awful shape right before they all go after Aizen

That being said, my current battle plan is that while Talbumosuke fights the Visoreds, Lelouch AND Yamamoto at the same time (allowing wave attacks and detracting the necessity of Bankai [team cooperation is essential. It would logically work better than brute force]) Ichigo is put on a metaphoric leash. If you recall when Allon (Apache, Sun-Sun and Mila Rose's pet) shows up. When he appears, since Yama's hands are tied, Ichigo's one moment to shine during the 1st battle is then

I plan for some people to die on that battlefield. I've already penned the deaths of at least two people.

There will be a retreat on Tal's part followed by another battle while both sides are still recooperating, but while it would be advantageous for Talbumosuke and then the real, final showdown starts.

That gives me an idea, I've considered the Visoreds disposable as well. I absolutely need Shunsui, Ukitake, Unohana and Hitsugaya, and potentially Yamamoto (I can work around it if the big man goes down) in future arcs. If not in the first battle maybe I can pen for someone important to die in the 2nd

Did I mention that, in order to make sure lives are saved as much as possible and to keep the battle as tactically in favor of the Gotei as possible, Yamamoto turns all tactical decisions over to Lelouch because he believes Lelouch to be the better tactician. However, that's not the same as Yamamoto turning all command over to Lelouch. If Lelouch gives an order, unless Yamamoto contradicts it directly, consider his silence or acknowledgment to be acceptance of Lelouch's order. (this will be explicitly stated in an upcoming chapter)

Part of her soul, I believe that was established in the manga
Why not? Once he has what he wants he has no use for it. The Hogyoku is just a tool for him. It serves him no purpose to hang onto it once he has what he wants and he believes Gin would want it destroyed after he has used it for its proper purpose. Simple as that.

maybe.

So in other words, it's more of a fan preference than an actual fact. You should have told me sooner.
And on the games: If it's not in the manga, it's not canon.

Very good! Finally something that makes SENSE.

Well, that would imply that Aizen planned it, and he sort of lost all credibility as a schemer by that point. And really, how much reiatsu could they have expelled? Shunsui killed his opponent with relative ease, and went down in an instant just the same as Soifon and Hitsugaya, who had struggled to win their fights. Somehow, that theory feels a little too simplistic.

So, Talbumosuke takes them all alone. What about his Espada? He has to know that going up against Yamamoto is a serious risk of dying. Can he really afford all captains fighting him at the same time?

Good.

The visoreds are more disposable, but them dying would have much less impact also.

...her soul? Hum, just what- aren't all shinigami made of soul matter? I don't quite understand here.
Yes, but the hogyoko is also an insanelyt powerful object. Giving it to Gin... it's not a good idea.
