Hmm, I've seen some comments where you noted that this is actually night for this planet, but I can't help but wonder how viable of an idea it is that this could be a "wandering planet," a planet not gravitationaly bound to any particular star, but instead, caught in an orbit with the entire star cluster...

Heh, wouldn't that be neat? It's seasons would last thousands, tens of thousands, or hundreds of thousands of years instead of just a few months. Imagine a world with periodic ice ages and tropical-like summers... Imagine what that'd do to the evolution of life? If the world has had, say, 5+ billion years for life to develop, I wonder if any species would evolve to hibernate through the super-winters or super-summers?
