This is so very different. Did you have another camera?

It is a wonderfu photol but too real for me...almost surreal... but I don't know why.
A visceral reaction. (If it was here and i felt the same, I would find out that some native people had been poisoned or shot many years ago...that's what happens when I feel like this.)

thank you Twiggy and nope just processed it a little differently.

and hmmmm, I will have to check... the view is of blackbear pass which is one the Ute used when they held this land.

a few weeks ago I had a project in the western part of the state. when I was there I had a chance to visit a location I had wanted to visit quite a while. the weather gods were mean to me and there was heavy rain. so no pics. anyway... it was the washita battlefield... a location where custer's cavalry massacred(I dislike the battlefield name for the location) Black Kettle's Band. 30-60 Cheyenne were killed(56 appears to be the legit number) Braves, Women and children old and young alike... then they killed the ponies... 800 of them.

anyway...

as I was standing under an awning of a structure near the site, surveying the different hills, the ridges custer's troopers hid behind waiting on dawn... it was as you say, a visceral reaction. you could feel that horror had occurred in that place.

I'll try it again, maybe at the same time of year as the attack. [link]

Interesting. Keep up with any the historical info. I for one enjoy it. :heart:

Thanks for that. Catch. Sometimes that feeling can be a real curse and I have to hotfoot out of the geography. In this young land we are still discovering hideous past events. Interesting to think that the Australian Aboriginal culture is the longest continuous and oldest culture on the planet....and now a wonderful revival of language and dreaming is evolving. It gives me a great sense of justice.

I had to leave when I pondered how it must have sounded when the horses were screaming.

::shudder::

and wow what a link an amazing performance. we lose much when we lose a culture. I'm glad many appear to have just barely made it past assimilation.

I am happy that you like it. He is blind and shy and lives like the ages before and behind him.

you can see at a glance that he is at peace.
