The pictures Aisha supposedly traced doesn't actually overlay, either the clothes have different folds, the head is tilted, the eyes have different shape, the eyebrows are shaped differently, the mouth and nose are positioned differently, or simply the whole picture is a line fiasco.
[link] <--- This is a Pixiv meme, you are supposed to trace it (there is a base for it somewhere in Pixiv) [link] dA doesn't allow tracing (Pixiv does) so it was wrong to submit it in first place, ok.
[link][link] <--- This two are so ugly and disproportioned that it's almost an offence to the original picture to call them trace.
[link] <--- Can't judge this one because I hadn't seen the two originals.
[link] <--- And lastly this one may look very close, but then just why would you bother to trace and change, even sightly, the jaw line, eyes and eyebrows shape? The mouth and nose are missplaced (her drawing look disproportioned) and the clothes and headset are another story. Frankly it looks like it could be simply heavily referenced, with exception of the eyes because even thought they are differently shaped, they are perfectly positioned and Aisha would never be able to pull something like that with her current skills.
[link] <--- When I saw this I knew it was a trace and I thought everyone realized this. Frankly I don't see the big deal, memes are public domains and it was also used in a silly comic that couldn't even be called artwork that was just meant to be an answer to her "haters" (lol). Given the reason behind the comic, I would have traced too because frankly I would never put not even 10% effort on something like that.
[link] <--- Nothing here overlays. They look alike because they are both Nendrodoids.
I dislike Aisha's "artworks", mostly of her character designs are generic and horrid, her coloring is eye-raping), her anatomy is a trainwreck, draws almost the same faces always and her attitude is pretty shitty ("I'm popular uguu obviously people who critique or dislike me are trolls desu"). I always thought that anyone who liked her art was probably a 16 years old, or art retarded, or a weeaboo, or all of those (I can't deny that everything post October 2011 shows a huge improvement but I will give it some months before giving her another review, and also because I have the feeling I have seen her latest character designs before and knowing how generic her previously character designs were I wouldn't be surprised), but I have to be honest with myself and ignore the rage: Aisha is not tracing, and if she did it's still 7 pictures vs 274 deviations.
On a side note:
1.- It's possible to do perfect portraits (and drawings in general), and denying it it's insulting to the people who still masters this skill and makes a living of it. I see this being done everyday by others at my workshop and also I try to do it myself: If I'm doing a portrait, I won't be satisfied and would never consider it finished if the pictures doesn't line up perfectly with the picture I'm using as reference, doesn't matter how many hours it takes because otherwise I consider it a mediocre work.
2.- Honestly, ~Nikaleles doesn't have the skills to pull off a portrait like that. I have seen his/her gallery and she/he needs to work a fucking lot on anatomy and proportions. The skeletal system of her characters makes no sense and are completely unbalanced (how can this thing hold itself and keep standing? And overall, LIVE? [link] ) and the skulls are plain ridiculous looking. Frankly he/she doesn't draw like if she/he ever had drew from life before. Sorry but I can't take her/his example seriously.
3.- Your comment about ~marikire's art being way better than Aisha's and stating it was very geometric oriented... Sorry but no, I think the hate against Aisha is stuck in your eye-sockets because is the only way someone would say something like that. It's indeed good for a 13 years old but there is a lot of work to do for ~marikire in all technical areas. I laughed at the "geometric oriented", the composition isn't a trainwreck but it's pretty standar.
again i would like to point out, who cares. it's not like your gonna do anything if you met so and so in real life ._. I'm gonna go back to not giving a fuck about any of them
The only thing i fail to understand is why hasn't Aisha done ANYTHING to clear her name? She hasn't made a journal since november, her Tumblr is dead (or at least I missed all her posts) and she hasn't submitted somethings since December 17th. I know she uses school as an excuse, but most schools have a winter break for at least a week...
i agree with this comment, the artist they use for proof that you cannot draw perfect from reference, i have seen very beautiful realistic works on this site and in galleries and the fact that this artist is not nearly skilled enough to produce them is proof of nothing at all. i also see the discrepancy with these overlays.i am glad im not the only one,i felt that way before.
"Honestly, ~Nikaleles doesn't have the skills to pull off a portrait like that. I have seen his/her gallery and she/he needs to work a fucking lot on anatomy and proportions. Mmmm this comment. I like it very much. You clearly show that you're not a fan, yet you still have the sense to see that half of this stuff was probably all biased because of the hacker. And I can't believe no one else was able to see the Durarara! thing. I thought it was a popular base too.
Applause to you sir, you have used *gasp* CRITICAL ANALYSIS AND THINKING SKILLS IN THIS.
This portion is for the journal writer: In all seriousness, do you have hard evidences shown here to prove it's legitimately traced? Seems roflamo9000 just blew that straight to Hades and back. I too, like this respectable individual, did not see a huge similarity within many of the examples given (like the Miku 3D render compare? Not even close to matching up!). Alright, so some stuff is close to matching up. Guess what? I've drawn things, many things, that nearly match up because I spent hours being a nitpicking OCD artist trying to get it right instead of simply "doing the best" so it doesn't look traced. I was not always successful at getting so close. So my art varies depending on how inspired or dedicated I was to figuring out how a certain thing was drawn. Big whoop. Fluctuation is natural. Not every piece will be a Mona Lisa in your gallery. It's offensive to all artists who have an eye for copying just as they see things in real life or from cartoons or anime or whatever, nailing the pose and whatnot the honest way to say they traced something. So the way I see it, you've just opened yourself to someone's angry rant sooner or later if you have not already.
Your journal is rather one-sided and does not adequately provide the other side of the story, nor does it present the attackee's own words. Rather, it's much paraphrasing... And foul language galore and rampant ranting! That surely provides a swell argument! NOT. I'm in no way defending either side here, I'm merely choosing to point things out that weren't touched upon, missed, or clearly glossed over by blind opinion. I'm entirely sure it appears as if I am defending Aisha, when in reality I'm just sifting through the evidences I have. You know, since the journal is mostly about this "horrible bitch". I was sent this journal to read, and chose to comment on it, nor more, no less.
TL;DR : Grow up and learn legit critical thinking skills, debating and reasoning. I expect the swift and poor troll response back.
I have to say, having watched quite a bit of this shitstorm unfold, this is probably the most intelligent and objective comment I've seen so far on the whole thing. For this, I applaud you.
I'll probably hide your comment if it stirs up more considering it's for the most part, white knighting and probably trolling.
And yes, Nikaleles can draw portraits a shitload better then aisha does. Even when aisha DOES trace. Marikire isn't a 'better' artist, but she seems to have an overall understanding more so then aisha does.
"and the skulls are plain ridiculous looking. Frankly he/she doesn't draw like if she/he ever had drew from life before. Sorry but I can't take her/his example seriously."
I'm sorry to break it to you, but any skulls or characters in her gallery are her own species she came up with ages ago, and she's made it a point that they -don't- follow human anatomy. I have seen her HUMAN drawings recently and which I thought were quite amazing.
Not to mention you have fuck all examples in your own gallery, so anything you pretend to analyze will end up looking like complete horse shit.
WAIT do I not have the skills to pull off a portrait that is perfectly identical to the original or do I not have the skills to pull off the shitty portrait I did
because I'm sure it's possible for a ~MASTER~ to pull off a portrait that is identical to the reference, but what are the chances that Aisha took a photo of some guy from the internet, eyeballed off of it, and got a result where 90% of the contours matched up perfectly with the original yet it still looked like a goddamn mess? The tobuscus(??) drawing is definitely traced, but she probably changed some of the shit around so it didn't look as traced. If you're tracing with the intention of not getting caught, you're not going to straight up trace all the lines, but there's enough matching there that it's not just some kind of freaky weird coincidence. god damn I wish for all the world Aisha wasn't tracing but honestly I can't exactly chalk it up to her having impeccable replication skills or anything.
also thank you for the somewhat angrily worded and apparently slightly misinformed criticism but I'm mildly amused that the one example you picked wasn't my design lolh but I agree, I need anatomy help
"also thank you for the somewhat angrily worded and apparently slightly misinformed criticism but I'm mildly amused that the one example you picked wasn't my design lolh"
Well, that was my fault for not reading the whole description.
BTW, I don't think you're a whiteknight You have been pretty objective. I might just try to explain some things properly whilst I'm back here.
We know most of the examples of 'tracing' don't line up exactly, but they were more a demonstration of what led us to become suspicious of her than proof that she actually traced them. They are pretty close and the poses probably were referenced/copied rather than traced, but there are a handful of small ones there that DO line up too much. Those are pretty indisputably traced, or at least mostly traced. The layovers weren't supposed to be proof that she traces EVERYTHING she does, but more proof that she has traced before. I think the intention had been lost in translation.
The reason I did the little shitty portrait was to see if someone with my skill level could eyeball a portrait close enough for it to match, and then I checked the portrait against the photo and they didn't match up well. I left it like that and asked sofine if she could get the portrait and the photo to overlay through manipulating them to fit. It was more a test of whether or not we were being fair about the accusations where we were sure she was tracing... you know, making sure we weren't just managing to manipulate them into overlaying so neatly. Needless to say, she couldn't get my eyeballing to overlay properly and I couldn't either, so I doubt we were just fluking. And like I said, it's too weird that the contours on Aisha's drawings managed to match up so well with photos but she couldn't get the faces to look at all like the people she was trying to draw.
So I think that this isn't really about saying Aisha traces everything so much as it is saying her words can't always be trusted, because apparently she's been caught lying a few times now, and "I have never traced" definitely seems to be a lie to me. Well, that's how I see it anyway.
But I don't think you should have been called a whiteknight. Perhaps you've been a bit hostile, but it was objectively hostile at least.
Oh no, it's totally fine! I was a little down about it but I can take me some rough and tumble. I've had harsher and less warranted critiques, and you're right anyway. I don't think I've had a day of training in my life rofl.
The 'too long/too thin' skulls... well the thing is I don't have a lot of drawings of regular humans in my gallery, and the grey faggots you're probably seeing are a fantasy race of my own design whose skulls are a bit whacked out (dahhh shitty drawing warning). They do have pretty diminutive brains. I'm still working on the concept but I've asked several friends who are better at skull structure/biology/design than I am and they seem to think it'd work well enough for a fantasy.
I do get people wandering over to me and saying "wow you can't draw people for shit" and I'm like lol. THE SAD THING IS THAT'S PRETTY TRUE. The thing is, drawing a lot of greyfags urges me to accidentally make faces longer just out of habit. I don't do nearly enough life drawing but I've been planning on doing more. I can't draw people for shit and it's bothering the absolute shit out of me. I WANT to get better, I just... haven't done it yet lol.
... So there's that I guess! But I don't do hard feelings, so don't worry about it.

Well, uh. No offense, but half of my shit was kinda deleted so all you're seeing right now is the crap that's left from my scraps. That's not really much to base your judgements on.
Dude, your last scrap was submitted on 21 december [link] , there's your Featured deviation "BADASS BRO" submitted 15 december and your ID. Why can't they take these examples seriously? You need to improve anatomy and proportions a lot. Especially on faces and hair, even your avatar has crooked eyes.
Oh yeah, no, I agree with that shit. Critique is what's made me from anime shitty to now. I think she's assuming you're just running around calling everyones work shitty like the opening comment. I guess because it didn't have direct criticism such as "when you draw the legs you tend to draw the thigh too short in comparison to the lower leg".
Saying you need to work on anatomy IS a criticism, but I personally like to add specifications so they know where to start. Generally if someone needs to work on their overall anatomy, it's probably because they don't know what to do about it.
K', I'll take aware of that for the future critiques. I don't critique to offend, my critiques are crude, not rude. About the Aisha tracing drAma...big part of examples are just too obvious, I have some doubts on the Skye-Miku chibi, but damn the Skye-girl face made me laugh, at least trace a man's face pfff
I know, I get alot of shit when I try to give helpful critiques. Some people just get offended over anything that isn't saying their shit is amazing. It's rediculous.
Yeah, she tends to trace from the same source as well. I guess an anime music/game/something called vocaloid.
I actually found some where she traces WOMEN'S BODIES that I didn't post. For her MALE CHARACTERS.
So, if you're not a chef, you can't know when food tastes bad, right? If you're not a plumber you can't know if your sink isn't working properly? If you aren't a mathematician you can't know the answer to 6+7? If you don't teach English you can't see flaws in sentence structure and spelling?
Anyone can tell if someone's skull has a giant portion missing, or if someone's arms are too long or short. You don't have to be the best artist on Earth to see that people's eyes generally line up, or that your hand has four fingers and a thumb.
Late reply is less than a couple weeks late and its the internet.
Just a random passerby, who happens to disagree with your thinking.
And you're absolutely right, you don't know how to fix a problem if you're not a professional, but that doesn't mean you can't tell your plumber what the problem is. "My toilet isn't flushing" is enough to give the plumber some general ideas on what to check first, right?
So "The arms seem a bit too long" should be enough to give the artist something to work off of, right?
I don't kick dead things, so I guess I wouldn't know.
Perhaps, but I'd still rather be critiqued by people who know better ways to do things then someone who was angry because they don't think someone's art is as good as people say it is. It's just how I think.
Referring to the first first comment, lmao. Unless I'm not remembering correctly.
I'm not really trying to "kick dead things". I just...I crave art related conversations and I don't know many people who will talk about art with me, so, I just felt like poking my nose in here. I don't have anything against you, and i'm not trying to piss you off.
This part I agree with. I don't want a "your art sucks, go die" critique, I want a critique by someone who is actually trying to help. And while I do agree that a critique that tells flaws but no solutions isn't the best critique ever, its still better than no critique at all. I'd rather someone who can't draw very well, or can draw spectacularly, tell me "I like this, but the colors clash a bit and it sort of hurts my eyes. And the eyes seem too big for the head" rather than jsut be left with a comment that says only "Kawaii". I can't stand "ass patting" critiques where people just point out how amazing a person is, or critiques that simply state that the artist is a terrible artist and should quit now, while not pointing out any real flaws with the piece or offering any solutions.
I wasn't really concerned with the majority of the conversation, just the thought that someone who isn't a perfect/professional artist can't give a thoughtful critique. That's all I wanted to talk about.
The forums might be a better place for you. Or critique centered groups.
I hate ass pats too. @_@ You won't believe how many people give pictures 5-star critiques with absolutely no content other than how good it is. It's disgusting.
UHHH I think somebody was referring to the journal and was like WHATCHU TALKIN ABOUT MARIKIRE'S ART ISN'T THAT GOOD EITHER and I was like Oh please, etc etc.

I go through the critiques section all the time, its scary how many ass patts there are.
I tried to ignore most of the drama related to sofine127 and aisha and that whole deal. I thought it was stupid on both sides.
Idk, I think Aisha has a lot of explaining to do, but since she's not doing it, something's obviously fishy.
