As to your question, the Cameo can cut both thick and thin material. If you go to cut settings (the shape of the blade in the software, upper right hand) you can select different materials.
The old machine Silhouette SD had a thick media mat, but the Cameo can do both thick and thin, just set the blade settings accordingly in the cut settings and it'll guide you to the right blade settings.
Just a hint, I always double cut my paper (tick the double cut button) just in case it's a little too thick for their directions. Comes out clean every time.
