For openers, I'm also a big fan of the DC Universe (Batman, Superman, Robin, Wonder Woman, etal.) I've always felt that Batman never had a heart until a friend of mine sent me a picture of him and Dick Grayson (Robin #1) at the grave of Dick's parents. Long story short, it took me a long time to to believe Batman had a heart.
I can't look at Sherlock and think the same way. This man DOES have a heart and, with the love he shows Watson, he proves it over and over and over again. Yeah, there are times when he's cold, aloof, analytical and about as distant as the summit of Mt. Everest and there are times when he behaves like a spoiled little five year old detective (see: "A Scandal in Belgravia") but this man, our Sherlock, is human who oozes with emotions from every pore when he allows it, and you, the artists, have proved that to me time and time and time again.
"Thank you kindly" just isn't enough, but it'll have to do for now.
