This one really hit me hard. My father was not an alcoholic. And he never purposefully neglected me. But he never understood me and it took us 20 years to realize we could still love each other. :heart: This is some powerful writing. I'm so glad to have you in my group (and thanks for the mention!)

I have a friend going through that right now. Her parents are so focused on who they want her to be that they're missing who she is. Very frustrating and sad, because who she is would make them very proud if they took the time to look. I hope that her journey will unfold like yours, and some kind of bond might forge later in life.

I think there's always hope. Sometimes distance helps - it certainly did for me. And if you want it - anything's possible.
