Nobody likes Flash Sentry. There are others that I've been thinking of doing though. Such as the WonderBolts (Spitfire the fire elementalist, Saorin the wind elementalist, and Fleetfoot the frost elementalist) as a group.

"Nobody likes Flash Sentry"

Oh...then I guess I'm not a person, then. xD
I've never really understood Flash hate. What about him do you hate? Sure he's not the best character, but I do think there's worse.

Which characters in MLP are worse than Flash? Even Twist has redeemable qualities and more of an identity.
Diamond Tiara, Prince Blueblood, Suri Polomare, the FlimFlam brothers, Garble and the dragon teens, and even Gilda(Whom I like for my own reason) all have personalities, but they stink(and that's an understatement).

Also we have characters like Shining Armor, Princcess Cadence, and Sombra, who(on their first appearance) had just as much, if not less character. And they still got a warmer reception to the series then Flash.

At least Flash isn't a jerk, he's a nice guy. At least he tries to help if given the chance. And he does seem to be actually supportive of Twilight(like when he mimicked her dancing so it would look less awkward)

I know he's generic, but that can easily be fixed if he was put in the show and given time to develop.

The only other complaint I've heard is because he's dating Twilight. And all I can say about that is: get over it. (not saying you complain about that)

That's just my thoughts.

Sigh, I've already lost one subscriber because I didn't share in their Flash love. I just hope you take this better than he did.

Almost all of the characters you listed have reprehensible personalities, but they are supposed to, they are antagonists. Flash Sentry isn't so much a character as he is a stereotype designed to fill a role that didn't need to be filled in the first place. Twilight becomes a human teenager in high school, thus it was deemed that she have a human teenager love interest. Remove Flash from the story and the story is mostly unchanged. They even had to shoehorn his existence into relevance with his involvement in Sunset's pointless and quickly resolved plot to frame Twilight. And even as a character that solely exists to be the protagonist's love interest, he fails to be relevant. Literally, his entire interaction with Twilight is little more than "We've really got to stop bumping into each other like this". Oh, and they did that thing where they accidentally touch hands while reaching for the same object. Since they barely interact with each other, Twilight's infatuation with him is seen as purely physical. He has spikey hair, wears jeans & a leather jacket, and he's in a band. And that is enough to get Twilight to blush and twirl her hair.
Look I'm not saying I love Flash and (despite what it may sound like) I'm not saying you need to love him. All I'm saying I've never understood what's so hate-worthy about him. But I think I understand what you're saying. You hate the stereotype. And since that's the only reason he exists, you hate Flash. Personally I found the stereotype just made him boring and the worst Flash is really deserving of would be apathy. But, cliche aside, I really would like to see him better development and become more than just a stereotype. The show's a bit short on recurring, developed, male characters as it is.

I do see him as nothing more than a bland stereotype with no purpose. But it's because they wrote a character like him that I think garners much of his hate, aside from those who begrudge him as a "wiafu theif". If the show is known for anything, it's making characters that are rich in personality and unique in their own right. Even background character who never speak a word have so much character to them that the fanbase still latches onto and form head-canons about. Flash on the other hand, he would probably fit in better among the cast of Monster High... oh yeah, I went there.
Look I understand Flash's lack of personality is a problem. But instead of looking at the problem and getting pissed off at it, why not try to fix the problem? You just mentioned the background ponies. Vinyl, Derpy, and countless others would be nameless faces if the fans hadn't given them names and personalities. They were blank slats. And if you can look past the stereotype, that's basically what Flash is. You know how awkward it is in the show when a background pony talks, right? That's kind of what happened with Flash. He's pretty much a love interest made out of a background pony. And where as that doesn't make him good, I really don't think that makes him bad. At least not bad enough to be hated. I don't look at him for what he is but what he could be, which really is anything at this point. All we know for certain is that he is a generic nice guy. He doesn't have his own personality. And until he does I will remain hopeful. After all Sunset Shimmer wasn't that much better in the first movie, but in the second one she was great. I don't know, guess you could call me a little too optimistic.

I'd disagree on the FS front, but I tried to like him, tried to write him, even tried to ship him with Twi.

It didn't work. None of it worked.

But Sunset Shimmer would be cool.
