My wisdom teeth were growing sideways into the rest of my teeth. The orthodontist said that he could probably remove all four in about an hour (15 min per tooth) with me under anesthesia. The only danger was that my wisdom teeth had already grown so much that the roots were very close to my sinus cavity. If he wasn't careful, he could create a hole between my mouth and my sinuses.
Went into the orthodontist's office for my first surgery ever. They had me knocked out in less than 10 seconds (which was really weird), and finished my surgery in 45 minutes. What sucked the most after the surgery was that my face was so sore and swollen that I couldn't open my jaw very far and it hurt to talk, sneeze, cough, and chew. After recovery, though, I haven't had any problems.

My only hope is that you have nowhere you have to be the few days after surgery. You will most likely be in pain, and the pain meds will probably have you feeling very groggy. It took me a few days to finally get out of bed, and about a week to fully recover.
