I can't say I know what Maus is exactly (just did a quick google), so I don't know why it reminds you of it lol.
Maus is a graphic novel by Art Spiegalman who details his fathers survival during the Holocaust. In the book, different races or religions are portrayed by animals, like the Jews being mice and the Nazis being cats. Thats kinda why it reminded me of it. 
Strange...
It's a great graphic novel, though. I highly suggest it.
