I absolutely love this drawing and its message, Humon! I am an illustrator that uses male nudes in my artwork and have experienced the double standard that our society lives by when it comes to artistic nudity. I’ve been turned away from certain coffee shops and bars because my art sometimes features male genitalia. None of my nudes are engaging in any sexual activity and are not erect. I feel that my art is always very body positive and celebrates a natural male form. However it seems that the female nude in art is much more acceptable than male nude. I don’t know whether this is because women’s bodies have been objectified for many years ? Maybe people feel a sense of vulnerability or insecurity when they see a male nude? Maybe it’s an American hang-up because I know that depictions of a male nude in other countries are much more acceptable. I find it sad because men suffer from the same body shaming that women do. I think artists such as yourself are shedding light on an issue that needs to be addressed and I appreciate it. Never censor yourself, Humon! Keep up the great work. <3
