HA HA! Just remembered what she's probably based off of (other than an insect).
She is a variation on a Kelpie. A shape-shifting, fanged, horse-like creature that makes it's victims attracted to it in order to pull it underwater and drown it. Hence her fixation with love, the shape-shifting, the fangs, (the main characters are all ponies so the horse-thing is less pronounced), and the fact that she looks kinda drowned.
