I can second that motion. Vectors are really hard in themselves and I haven't even attempted, but digital art is all about clicking the right thing and hoping it comes out right. XD
Painting with watercolors is the same. Only if it doesn't come out well, then you can hardly erase the mistake 
You do have a point indeed. Digital art allows more control but that leaves more room for more operator error. XD
