I had this great idea of naming him after some random sumerian deity whom most people have never heard of :D But I tried to keep the water theme. I also have characters inspired by Enlil and Ereshkigal.

Glad to see someone else has also done some reading on the subject <3

I'd like to point out this is actually accurate to what he looks like. Like extremely accurate, to the point I don't think you should call him a OC. It'd be like calling Obama a OC or something. XD Both are living people. Though if it helps I can give you some details on my species. We have wings that can come out and disappear, chest gems, a third eye in the form of a gem on our foreheads, and a tail. Look in gallery, I draw myself a lot. I guess Enki is in mortal form here? Mortal form is when we make our alien parts poof. o2o
Almost forgot we also have elven like ears, with tip colours matching our chest gems, gems are also on our hands and feet, they hold a element. For example, Enki's are a bright blue because his element is water, mine are indigo, as my element is ice.

If you would feel the gems, Enki's would feel wet, mine would probably freeze your hand. The eye gem's colour usually doesn't have to do with elements. Mine is chartreuse. Enki's is emerald.

Ereshkigal? I've spent a long time with her before being reborn..o2o May I see a pic?

First of all, thank you for your comments.

Secondly, I'm sure you didn't mean to, but you come off as quite rude by giving suggestions on modifying my OCs based on your own ones. For all I've read on the subject, the "improvements" you proposed do not seem to have any basis in the mythology. Anyway, I'm not attempting to draw the sumerian deity but have simply taken influences from the stories and happened to name my OC based on them.

I also have OCs in the same story (which has not yet taken form on paper) based on Ereshkigal and Enlil :)

Tch, rude you say? I was giving a description of how we deities actually look kid. Most of the time humans don't draw the deities how we actually look! You claim these ideas are OC but they are not be actuality.

'I'm not attempting to draw the sumerian deity but have simply taken influences from the stories and happened to name my OC based on them.'
That's kinda just ripping off a real person and labeling it a OC. Basically this would be the same as calling Obama a OC.

Sorry, this conversation is making me feel very uncomfortable and thus I hope this will be the last of it.

I find that having a story affiliated with some aspects of mythology does not enforce me to change it according to anyone else's interpretations.

Having OCs called Obama doesn't seem wrong to me, since sharing a name doesn't necessarily mean having any connection to the current president of USA. I, for example, could have a character called Santa Claus without them necessarily relating to the Santa Claus and how people generally picture him. This would not be "ripping off" anyone.

My meaning for taking inspiration from the sumerian mythology (which I view as an interesting work of fiction, as I do all religious texts) is not to hurt anyones personal feelings. I do it because having references and conducting research for my works is something I enjoy doing.

That said, I treat my original characters separately from the stories that give them some of their characteristics. I have used Enki and other deity-inspired characters of mine in drawings that in no way relate to the mythology. And since they are indisputably my OCs I find that I have the full freedom to do so.

All in all, I truly hope that you were trolling with all your previous comments and made me look truly idiotic by actually engaging in a dispute on the subject. But in case not, I hope you would kindly consider us agreeing to disagree and leave it at that.

I do not troll at all.

Of course I know of Enki, he is my father after all. He often visits me. ^_^
