had a similar moment with an idol at an expo. What do you say to someone who doesn't know you, but you know all about them, you're brimming with adoration, but it's not like they are going to ask you to lunch and you will become friends or something, you have only seconds to say whatever it is you are going to say because people are waiting--its just a prime set up for awkwardness is what it is.
