A good helpful trick most SAI artists use (Included myself)

one thing though, remember that you can't use Soft-Shading with anything, I mean, you can, but it's more reccomended to soft-shade only for shadows or skin. Things that are harder or more structural like clothes are suposed to have a more texturized feel, and very hard things like metals can't use soft-shading because the shine is to bright and solid.
