oh, it was ok, but reminded me too much of a Mel Gibson movie ;) ...kinda formulaic and was an easy one to watch. It reminded me a little of 'The Book of Eli' which was another post-apocalyptic tale of one guy protecting something very important to the world.

I am a chines movie fan (Red Cliff 1 & 2 for some epic film work) ...and one of my all time favorites is a German movie called 'Schwarz und Weiss wie Tage und Nachte', with Bruno Ganz playing a psychotic chess player in one of his first major roles. Not a lot of apocalyptic action in that :)

Nononono - it is a deeply philosophical movie with so many current disturbing issues. (I don't watch Mel Gibson movies have to admit.) So much more than "a tale of one guy protecting something very important to the world"...

I don't know that I can agree with you if you are being serious. It does touch base with a lot of current disturbing issues, but whether it takes more than a populist viewpoint I am not so certain. The ending was certainly a let down for me, abrupt and somewhat predictable, like the allocated time had run out ...so we better get this thing ended now. It would have been more impactful (for me) if the rescue ship had not come surging out of the mist and their rowboat had just drifted away, merging into the fog so we never knew who lived and who died.
