Well, he was blonde more or less. Promotional items from the times of the first 2 Zelda games had him with blonde hair, but he didn't have it in the game cause of color limitations.

yep, it does, if a character in a Game Boy game cover had colors that doesn't makes it monochrome even though those games are black and white
