I suppose in the simplest way it means doing certain actions that will allow you to unlock a secret in a game... if that makes sense

I think he/she means the possibility to load your suikoden I savedatas into suikoden II and then find McDohl and Gremio inside Banner (don't now if they changed names between us and eu version, it's the village next to Gregminster and the Toran Region, the one you can only get to by boat!)
