Given the team, I find it quite unimaginative and generic. I find it to be unoriginal and bland. While sure, it looks official, I don't see the point in making tiles like this. The reason Nintendo make theirs quite rough and lack smoothness in Black & White is because they have not mastered the creation of textures through 3D for their environments. So consider Pokemon Black and White the Pokemon Red and Blue of 3D Pokemon graphics. I see little point in emulating crude 3D textures through pixel art. I'm sure you personally enjoy the style, but I find it some what senseless to recreate something which could be improved graphically through the medium you guys use.

I notice how even the screen size is the exact same as Nintendo's DS size. Try another aspect ratio. I know this is a remake, but sincerely, I feel it should be a remake in your own style, the style the team create.

I can understand why you may want to look official, but there's a difference between copying the official games, and making something official looking. The latter is what you should strive for, but this quite heavily based on the BW games, and it's already a remake, so with those two things teamed together, I find this screenshot to be weak.

Forgive me if you feel the comment is harsh, I hope you and your team can take it and understand where I'm coming from.

I'm having trouble understanding you. When you write that Nintendo make their textures crude because they have not mastered it, I don't think that's correct. Take a look at HGSS. Those were 3D too and those were smooth and clean. It is a style. Therefore, if we made something smooth and clean you would argue that we stole the style of HGSS. There is no such thing as original, and you should learn about that in art.

Screen size? Seriously? 4:3 is a common aspect ratio. The screen could be resized if that's what you wanted. How is a screen size a style? If we make the screen size bigger, you'd still see everything the same way.

I'm part of the team now and I think you're wrong. The style is already somewhat different. You're looking at a few teenagers working together to remake a game that could easily be remade officially or could simply be dropped due to a DMCA order if Nintendo chooses. Do you want us to waste our time and make completely new graphics for something that could be lost cause? It's a remake. Not much is supposed to change. The style of the game should be kept.

I'd like to let you know that this is not the final version of the map. We're constantly modifying it and it will look different in the final version.

Thanks for your long comment, I appreciate it.

It's an opinion, not an argument. Learn the difference instead of being an ass. This is a carbon imitation of the official style, if you think otherwise, well then you're pretty blind.

I didn't say you were wrong, I didn't say it was bad, I didn't say you should stop. I gave you my view on what I feel seems unoriginal, and instead of just being like "you're wrong" just accept that someone has a different view. I've spoken to 6 or 7 people who think the same as I do before posting the comment.

Regardless, I don't see why you're jumping in on this. I'm not attacking you or your team. Relax, it's feedback. Not all is going to be agreeable. But this really isn't all that original, that's my solid and obvious point. If you're not going for originality that's all you have to say.

lol I wasn't trying to be an ass. Sorry, I blame my school. They teach me to think too critically about what other people write... ^_^'

And an opinion is an argument. You have to argue why you believe in your opinion.
