Ah! 5.6 seems to be a "magic" aperature. I use this alot myself because experience has shown me it produces some of the best shots :) The shutter speed... did you determine that or let the camera choose? I often use aperture priority mode and only use shutter mode for when I need fast action. (And light is ample.)I like to go by natural light too. Sometimes poor light is the most frustrating aspect of photography.

I use manual setting and i always try to have a minimum of 1/500 as a shutter speed it makes the greatest pictures...

I know !! light can be your best friend and your worst :/
