I think they're both linked to light in nature, since the moon is just reflecting the ight from the sun. However, I'm sure their moon defers from ours so it might be casting its own glow. Either way, they're both wardens of ponies and keepers of light.

Still not sure what type of arcane the alicorns possessed, they could be any of them really.
