It is a shame that she isn't a Queen, but due to Disney establishing a trend of queens being evil she couldn't be so. (Prior to Elsa... Though Elsa was technically an antagonist in Frozen)
I actually like her as a princess though. It shows the equality and shared rule of the kingdom that Celestia and Luna have- neither is above the other.

I do see princess luna as a princess but she doesn't seem to like the bureaucracy behind it as showed in one comics. Lol it was funny be end of it she was begging celestial to take back the day saying she prefers simplicity of the night better
