Hey Deskleaves... another question - how come you could make such a great and detailed tutorial if you've made just one ball jointed doll yourself? *confuzzled*

Anyhow, here's my work in progress pic following your tutorial: britttu.deviantart.com/art/Wor…

I'm soon going to update that, it looks much better already. ^^

I've made more than one, I've just never been able to completely finish them. x__x Unfortunately, I only have pictures of the one completed. All the bigger ones I have made before had to be left behind during several problems in which I lost all of my posessions.
While it might seem detailed, there's still a lot to be desired of my tutorial, such as finishing techniques. Compared to the whole process of making a professional poured-resin doll, this is really only the basics for beginners such as myself. I have just transfered all of the information I have learned by trial-and-error here for others to enjoy, I definitely am not a dollmaker. Just sharing what I have to offer.

Wow, it looks pretty great! Are you going to give her acrylic eyes?

Ohhh, alright, alright. So do you have pictures of the fully ready or half ready bjds, I'd love to seem them....

And anyway, it's a huge thing anyway, for beginners, this is a very good tutorial, doesn't scare them off too much... ;)

Thank you! I also looked up tutorials on google on how to make eyes out of clay... I want her to be fully made by me, including the eyes, clothes, hair, faceup etc. :D

Kittyduck BJD by Deskleaves Here's the crappy little finished one I still have, basically made out of terra cotta horse poop xD. I have the front half of a dragon somewhere, and a face with posable ears in my harddrive. I just can't really be bothered to look for it right now.

As for the eyes, you CAN make them yourself with that clear, glossy stuff. I think it's called crystal cote? I've used it before, and a crappier version on the eyes of my dragonpig plush. You basically draw (or print out) the irises and put big, fat drops of the crystal cote on them to dry, then cut them out. It's really not the same as buying them, imo. I don't know how to make eyes myself except the gloss method, and just painting them on.

Oooh, that looks like quite a creative character there! Not to mention so tinyyy! Those ears are so fluffy. ^___^ Also seems to pose really well! I put my dolly together, I didn't put the wires in the joints, because that seemed like more hassle than I could do, mine can't stand or pose that well. Omg, I wanna make one so tiny too now. :P

Well, I googled bjd eye tutorial and I what popped up a lot was a way of doing them with oven baked clay, painting the eye, and then putting this liquid fimo in the eye place, and just baking it off, and putting a top shiny coat in it and voila! So I've baked made a few pairs, so far has come out OK.

I'm gonna take pics of my ready doll soon too. :rose: so excited.

That's really cool, I totally want to see. o____o

Some of them don't pose well due to weight and proportion issues. Making BJDs is really fuckity, a tiny tweak can destroy or fix the whole thing. x___x; You could need to string it together more tightly!

Hey! I don't know if you ever saw my BJD ready which was made by the help of your tutorial. Lookie-lookie!:

And I maked a new one too, still keeping in mind what you wrote here, and also what I learned during making the first one:
