I've no idea why they would have turned it down to be honest. Nor do I understand why some of the threadless folks felt the need to trash it. ( I did like the idea of having it wrap around from back to front at an angle from the hip though) Personally? I'd wear it in a heartbeat.
I’m not sure if the DPI of the piece was an issue or not, as I didn’t see what it was posted, but 300 dpi is considered the lowest end of the scale for being acceptable for print. If it wasn’t up to scratch in the DPI department, they would have had no choice but to decline.
Though it can be a strain on your system if you have a lot of things running/open at the same time, you may want to try upping the DPI of the pieces you work on to fall within the 400 to 600 range. I can’t promise that it would automatically put you in the running for design acceptance, but it would at least remove that issue from the list of possible reasons they would use to decline your work.

Thanks so much stace! Especially for the tip about upping the dpi for 400-600. In Threadless you only submit a low-res sample, so they couldn't have declined it due to dpi reasons as they wouldn't have known.
