How marvellous to be so close to such an awesome natural wonder and so pleased you got your trip on the "Maid of the Mist" in the end. Our eldest son visited the falls in 2000 when he went to meet relatives of his girl friend, in Toronto. They came back engaged!! I would love to see Nigara Falls but ..... the years pass by and still we have not been.

I know what you mean.  There are so many places I would love to visit but doubt I'll be able to do it.  I did see the Grand Canyon this year and that was another place that took me all these years to finally see.

A bucket list moment?!

Absolutely!  I would love to visit the UK but I don't think that one is gonna happen.  My husband and daughter went on a "Polar Swim" where  they jumped into a river on New Year's Day last year.  You registered and paid to participate for the local fire department.  I had no idea that this was something either one of them wanted to do and didn't think they would follow through.  Heaven only knows what they will come up with next.  Harmony Polar Plunge 2013 My Family by GlassHouse-1

Don't give up on UK yet .... you never know!! Though I have to say I have a similar feeling about the US: I don't think it's going to happen.
When you have a wonderful family around you that is worth far more than any amount of travelling and it seems you have just that! :-)

That is very true.
