Yes I do. I'm just wondering whose side you're on. What I'm trying to say is, if I were Jones, when Calypso explained to him that in order to be in a relationship with her he would have to spend 10 years commanding the Flying Dutchman and in return get only 1 day of her company, I'd have gone "On second thought, that sounds a little ridiculous and maybe this isn't worth it and there's better fish in the sea, so no thanks."
I know it's getting way off the subject of this stamp, which I hope you'll be willing to forgive. But it's just that when I saw this stamp, this is what it made me think of.
..I mean honestly, 10 years is a pretty maddeningly long time by human terms when you think about it. Do you remember much of anything 10 years ago?
I thought she was asking a bit much, and he asked for so little in return. Even that, apparently, was more than she was willing to make the time for, which I find pretty unreasonable. And if that's the case, and she didn't feel it worth her time to defy her "nature" for just one stinking day (like it would've killed her), why not just let him know right from the start that his feelings for her were ultimately unrequited? That's where the connection in my mind to this stamp came from.
Honestly, what kind of a goddess is that? But it's only my opinion and I seem to be going off on a rant here. And if you disagree and are a Calypso supporter, I apologize for that.
