True, there's not much originality in comics any more. Pretty much every trope and trait has been done over and over, new characters will be hard to make unique. Fun loving free spirit detective who grew up around supeheroes? hat fits Nightwing. Perky goth immortal being who knocks sense into her brother with loafs of bread and likes towear egyptian medallions? Death of the endless. Violent sociopathic far-right hypocritical hobo who hates everyone who isn't a WASP cliché and uses brutal murder to accomplish what he wants and insults the people he respects he most? Rorshach. After a while, the only new characters are expys or ripofs of previous characters.

I like to see him as fairly Turk like, really, or a Will Smith type. But, he still has the stereotypical and dated 'charismatic black guy' thing that comes from being a character designed to cash in on the Civil Rights movement. At least he's able to be written well in the right hands.

So true. Apparently that was the plan, they were going to relaunch the Ultimate Universe from the beginning, with a bunch of changes like What the X-Men would be without Xavier and such. But, they backed out and reused that idea for Age of X. I think that's part of the reason they created him: In the future, when they need to reboot the franchise again, they can leave the casting options a little wider. They could instead make a film with Miles or Miguel, or one of the Spider-Women.

True. Though I do like Rorschach's view of civilization. Not that I enjoy his cynicism, but has passion for humanity, that results in cynical disappointment in the way things are.

History has repeatedly proven that political changes should not be the sole reason for introducing/changing a character. Wonder Woman being a female superhero is no longer a novel idea; now she's basically female Superman, or Superman with boobs and a lasso of truth. Black Panther, his social commentary background is obvious; now he's African Batman ripoff (actually he's cooler than Batman because he's a king).

Yeah, I'm waiting for the whole Ultimate Universe to close and reboot from scratch. I'm going to do something similar: Marvel Reborn. It's a series of redesigns based on the new history I'm creating.

I think its what makes Rorschach so popular and interesting: To some extent, he has a point, and you get where he's coming from. But, he's still mentally insane and incredibly short sighted, but still.

True. There's been many examples of characters introduced for political reasons that are sometimes proven unneeded. But, at least Wonder Woman's kinda cool as a character. Though with Black Panther, I think I proffer the idea of him being like Batman rather than how he's been since Reginald Hudlin got ahold of him and turned him into a bit of an obnoxious Mary Sue.

I'd like that to happen sooner or later. I wouldn't mind some originals being transfered over, of course, I'd like Miles and Kenny to be kept, but the Ultimate Universe as a hole could do with being reset. Your Marvel Reborn idea sounds kinda cool, I like to see fan reboots like that. Its quite a bit like my Marvel Evolution thing, only that's set within the same universe as X-Men Evolution due to being a spin-off from my X-Men Evolution fanfic. I'll have to check out your Reborn thing when I remember to.

Yeah he's very shortsighted,; noble in his own way, but still shortsighted. But I think the majority of Rorschach's popularity is that he's so cynical, an characteristic that most Frank Miller fans seem to enjoy.

Black Panther has potential, he just needs that push (movie) that'll propel him to greater popularity. I partially blame Marvel for not doing him justice, they're too scared to give him flaws (ultimately depth) out of fear of PC backlash. Hence his Mary Sue-ness. Remember: if you can be anyone be Batman. Always choose Batman.

:iconnukeplz: *wash your hands* and move on. I like your Marvel Evolution, as well as your Batman redesigns. I haven't posted anything yet, unless you count the Avengers and Spidey Redesigns. I'll start from the beginning, Marvel Genesis.

Wild idea, throw Kim Possible in with the Marvel characters. She could fit in the Universe as a character if you ignore her backstory. Granted that opens the door to forcing other crossovers that should never happen. But the Incredibles would also be cool.

That and he's fairly psychotic, which comes of as Badass to many. He did, unintentionally, start the nineties rise of dark action antiheroes, which Moore apparently regrets.

A big part was Reginald Hudlin trying to turn him into the biggest name black character, because of some weird, racial issue he has. Honestly, I think the best version of him I've seen was the one in the Iron Man AA cartoon, where he's bit of a xenophobic jerk only to grow past that who shows WHY he's king of his own country, without going with the Mary Sue-ness of him. Still, Magic Batman who's king of a country he pushed to surpass the rest of the world in technology, that's going to make a decent movie someday.

Yeah, best way to deal with that. Thanks, I'm working on a Justice League (which is massive, I'm really overworking myself there) and a second group of Avengers set now. Well when you do I'll make sure to look them over.

That would actually be kinda awesome. They could start off with a comic book continuation, with occasional appearances from other Marvel characters. Maybe have her work with SHIELD or something. It would probably raise some interest, comic fans would read to see what its like, Kim Possible fans would read to see her adventures continued, and Marvel would get some new fans. It might be too late, apparently the Avengers are going to crossover with Phineas and Furb.

Crazy is overrated. Especially with anti-heroes *cough*Deadpool.

BP should be the biggest name black character, the same reason Superman is the biggest white character, and Wonder Woman is the biggest female: because he was the first. I think of BP as arrogant because he views Western civilization as a bad joke. He's also king of an undefeated nation so he has the arrogance. I hate the magic aspect, can't the plant be just a plant w/ super vitamins and nutrients. I'm not a fan of magic characters, they cross a line where comics are no longer fun. And man-ape is not a cult, but a rival political party.

Still waiting, but I kinda stopped caring. Same, I'm always thinking of new stuff, it's crazy... I just need to finish...

I like Phineas and Ferb, but I have mixed feelings with Disney making that happen. Kim is totally a SHIELD agent, and the Incredibles need more attention.

At least Deadpool's crazy is used for humour instead of depicting it as cool. His insanity works because its so over the top. With many other crazy antiheroes, it just comes off as in bad taste. Works for villains though.

I agree, he should be, but I do dislike it when he crosses the boundary into unstoppable. I mean, Superman is incredibly powerful, but even without Kryptonite or Red sunlight, he has his share of limitations (he's vulnerable to magic and can be harmed by things stronger than him, he may be strong but most of his enemies are even stronger and his most well known villains is also far smarter and strategic) just as Wonder Woman, Hulk, and Thor do. Black Panther, should be powerful, but without the unstopablity of Reginald Hudlin's depiction. I do think his arrogance fits him, but not to the extent its often used, like when he refuses to share the cure for Cancer and acts fairly hypocritical about it. Then he becomes fairly insufferable. About Magic, I agree, but that's mostly because I'm bit of a science nerd and only like to use things I understand. Hell, I tried to think of a logical explanation for Thor and Asgard. I can accept it as 'some sort of science that is yet to be discovered or figured out' but going with 'its magic you don't need to explain it' is a bit too far.

Its the problem with getting new ideas, you always want to put them down, but if you have too many and not enough time to work on it then it gets difficult.

I may see it just to check it out, but its not something I'm especially looking forward to. They would make great comics, both Kim and the Incredibles (I'll need to check it out, but I'm pretty sure Incredibles got one at some point). I could see them being made in a few years, if somebody suggested it. Almost every popular show seems to get a comic these days; Buffy, Charmed, and Smallville come to mind, but Batman TAS, Teen Titans, and many others got comics for them too.

True, but his fans can be just as bad if not worse than Rorschach in terms of glorifying insanity. Crazy can be cool in a character, but fan-tards kind are pretty much the reason "why we can't have nice things." *sigh*

Marvel's trying too hard. When they try to make him "iconic" they end up making a Mary Stu, when they want to make him "human" they make him a unlikable douche. If you're going to be "bad", make us like you, other wise just become a villain. Maybe BP should be a villain like he started out originally...

And then, it ceases to be fun, which contradicts the purpose of having the ideas in the first place. Also I have a love-hate relationship with my inbox: it's always full, but I rarely get to see stuff anymore, then it becomes buried... *sigh*

I don't understand how or why Disney/Pixar seems so reluctant to put out a sequel to the Incredibles, it's one of the few sequels people actually want to see. *sigh*
