Thanks for the suppert! Yes, I will definitely keep trying, it's something I'd definitely want to add on my list, but to clean my mind from it a little bit, I also work on other models at the same time. But I'm sure I'll get it right, and it might even be quite soon, sometimes I just need the "lightbulb moment" when something just clicks in my head the right way and ta-dah!
I got disatracted in the past few days and focused on something that's been following me from the time not so long after since I've started doing origami and that's folding a mantis shrimp. I've always been obsessed by these animals, and I've always dremt about making one that would be worth making. And right now, after 10 years of dreaming, I suddenly felt I to try it again. I have tried many times in the past but always failed, so I was sceptical this time. I went through a list of failed attempts, but once I got the abdomen right, the battle was half won. The "face" was an area of another great struggle, but then I got a prelimenary idea of what the crease pattern will look like, so I could focus on refining it. I almost never fold anything twice, so I wanted to sure I won't spot any "stupid mistake" on the finished model.
I think the biggest problem with the harpypede is that's such an unusual subject. It's way out of my comfort zone which may be causing the trouble (and which, ironically, made me active in origami again, it was the lit match that ignited it all, so I really hope I can finish it as a tribute
.)
It's extremely striking and attractive subject, but it's hard to grasp.
I hope I'll make a breakthrough soon, though, it's about time!
It's been really troubling me that it's giving me such a hard time. Well it's good to get your feet in touch with earth I guess.
