Thanks for sharing your thoughts Dave. I completely agree. Although I must say that this is not new. I mean concerning the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. This has happenned before in the past. And as history has shown, empires do fall. I always think about the people in this world who have always had nothing, the underprivlidged, poor and oppresssed people of the world. What about them, where's their justice? I believe those who do wrong will gwt what they deserve, it just fucking sucks how the cycle of the rich controlling everything and everyone is starting up again.

If I was more religious I could rest knowing that they'll all burn in Hell.

Yes, Empires do fall but now every empire is deeply intertwined with the others. When they fall it'll be a big one.

I thought you were somewhat religious Dave? :?

You make a really good point. I'm pretty sure people can survive though. We still have many people in the world who get by without fancy technology, and humans have been living like that for a very long time.

I think of myself as 'spiritual.' I believe that there is something good in every religion that can be taken as lessons or guidance when it comes to considering how one should lead ones life.

But I don't believe that God wrote the Bible because I know man too well. We are all selfish SOB's that can't resist the allure of money and power, but we're happy to tell other people to lead their lives a certain way. Besides, the Bible is a 'best of' collection of books written by others. Around the year 300AD a group of religious leaders got together and decided what books were canon and what weren't. Once they had made their selection they decided to put them into one large volume to forever be referred to as the Bible. Surprisingly Jesus' own brother's book wasn't picked for inclusion.

I don't know if you ever watch any of the TED Talks, but here is a good one you should watch and share with anyone who thinks we can keep on as we are:

I agree with that.

I think I know what you're talking about- it was the council of Niciea or something like that (they had more than one meeting about the theological aspects), where they also voted to decide if Jesus was God (ironically, the bible doesn't even say that he is).

I've never heard of the TED talks. Thanks for the link!

I wonder how many books there actually were at that time that they had to choose from. I also remember reading about the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls and how it was quite clear that some had discovered them beforehand. Makes you wonder what was lost, like the library at Alexandria, to be never seen again.

As much as mankind as a race has evolved my hopes for that evolution to lead to humanity being more enlightened have been dashed.

We must accept that Mankind will never change and man will never learn from its mistakes.

Yeah, some things will never change, sadly.
