Oh now I see where you got the bow tie from, that's the episode where he becomes a human school teacher and has no idea who he is. My bad. 
It really threw me for a loop there because the bow tie is Matt's thing. Plus is didn't help that when I saw the picture on my laptop I was in a room full of other Doctor Who nerd fans and they were all 'That's not David, ra ra ra...'

Probably because I have seen Smith's series more than Tennant's and so I know how to tell the differences from Smith more? |D;
I dunno. I'd only really known about Smith, and he just has these facial characteristics that I think have really high contrast to Tennant? I guess it's just me. I was actually afraid this would come out looking like Richard Hammond, if anything.
