As for me - law of physics most important, than laws of art))) (My future speciality is an aircraft engineering, not art... art is only hobby)
If we have powerfull engine, we can forget about area ruling)
About stabilising floats - I think their drag comparable with ordnance at external hardpoints (large cruise missiles or drop tank). As I know - many aircraft capable supersonic flight with external payload
Some of these aspects I already discussed with my russian camrades)
But many "physical errors" I see only after, when picture was done... and I very lazy, that correct them

Fair enough. After all, if those engines are anything like the ones from the SR-71, they shouldn't have too much trouble getting to mach 1.5.
