Well as for the snake bites there are non pierced lip rings on Amazon...so you can wear it while youre interested and then slip it off when youre bored and there wont be a hole that has to heal over...and then when you want it again you dont have to have it repierced...alot cheaper then piercings too...and as for the tattoos I use eyeliner to try one out while Im still thinking about it...that way I can wash it off if it turns out I dont like it...So you can do both and change it as you want... 
That's true.. I also heard that there are magnetic ones that have come with two pieces? (A small ball for the inside and one for outside of the bottom lip..) & I think a good semi-permanant ink would be henna 
I've actually used it before on my hands/arms! The only downside is that you have to keep it on for hours till it dries properly and it also stinks ): But it lasts longer than liner and shorter than a tattoo, haha.

Oh god, I would definitely end up being one of those people who accidentally ate it :'D You can actually get a very fine line and/or intricate details with henna, you just need an experienced hand to help 
I actually like the natural colouring, it also varies from dark chestnut to bright orange. Depends on the mix. To each his own though!
