Yes, a simply explanation would've been nice. Were they scared to continue the show because it would alternate how the comics went? I'm not a comic fan, but I would know that if this were a reason I'd find a way to consider that bullshit.
Teen Titans was one of my favorite Cartoon Networks programs when I was kid for what it was not because of the comics. These days I can barely find any good cartoon superhero shows that really spark my interest and the only time I get to see Teen Titans is on the Boomerang channel on my Direct-TV system.
Well... Maybe I could be wrong about the new show and it won't be just comedy. I'll at least appreciate that the original cast found the time to spend with this little program. Will I still wish it were back as to how the nostalgic fans grew up watching it? Always. Would they even be reading this message?

The show wasn't following much of the comics anyway. I'm sure that wasn't the problem. I think the episode where they defeat the Brotherhood of Evil made a much better ending.
I really hope CN has the good sense to understand that The New Teen Titans were made for sort bits and won't work at all for a full show. I'm sure the cast is happy to do it and all, but giving us that instead of a new interesting show would just be insulting. Why don't they just make a full show out of Super Best Friends Forever instead?

I suppose because the chances of that happening are about the same as Lauren Faust getting her Galaxy Girls on the air. Granted, those would make better show ideas than doing a series of shorts on the most beloved superheroes when it should be a continuation of the show instead.
But the only other reason I would want such shows is not because I say I would like them but because so they can offer the two things fans love the most when it comes to T.V. shows: Great stories and unforgettable characters.
