Yeah, but those people 70 years ago had 'the touch'..... ya know, natural talent for it.... not sure if I can say the same about myself.

Well, maybe, maybe not, but I don't think they'd do better with today's camera, and I don't think any camera will make your shots better than what they can be, except... the one that'll make you go out and shoot ;) I'm sorry for this vague answer, it's not that I don't know cameras I have like 15 of them, I could pick one good camera that I know on the market and tell you that it's a great one, but today we are lucky to be in a time with many new types of camera being released, that produce different way of taking pictures... Reflexes, compact, mirrorless cameras, rangefinder, pick your favorite!! I know people who spent a lot of money on a great camera and en up taking pictures with their phone, I know people who collect analog rangefinders and end up using more their dslr, so... hard to give you a good and precise advice!

Hah, I don't even have a phone! :XD: I think tablet/camera phones are silly, anyway.

All I know is, I don't plan on spending 300 or more bucks on one.... not even sure about $200.

Well at this price all the cameras are really basic... I don't know a lot about those little compacts. I heard the sony weren't bad!

I have a Nikon on the way right now.

We'll see how well it does.... it's manufacturer refurbished, but I've gotten that kind of stuff before and (at least sometimes) not had problems; saved about $75 off a brand-new, unused version.
