Is it just simple specific outlines followed by light shading?

HMMMM yes just sketch in the leaves and trunk, and very lightly cross hatch maybe on top? Not too hard I think. Important to observe various types of trees and check trunk proportions, where and how they branch, how leaves droop, etc. I did tree studies as far back as 1997.
