Aha. Sorry about that. I never saw or heard the term before. Since it's an acronym, it would normally be called a FOID, but your avoidance of capitals causes a confusion, making it look as though it were an actual word.
changed it to say "foid card" which might make it a little clearer to people who might not know, and even if that's technically a repetition, i've heard people refer to their "foid card" the same way people refer to the "atm machine"
and PIN number.
