Yes I have been working off the wiki documentation. The step you are highlighting doesn't work for me. KDE still starts up normally even though if I look at the startup configuration, it shows all 3 scripts as enabled and executable in autostart. KDE 4.9.3 and Slackware 14.0 is what I am using. I'm also using the latest bespin and BE::Shell. I'm actually trying to make Platinum Aqua work as that is the theme I discovered first that brought me here. It mostly does work when started manually. I will keep plugging away at it.

You could have a look in your autostart in kde settings. It should look like this: [link]

be.shell is activated and plasma desktop is deactivated. Hope it helps... :)
Yes, that is what mine looks like. Unfortunately, I put my autostart in the wrong place -) While the KDE GUI showed the files and even ran be.shell.desktop, the plasma stuff still started. I had to move it under .kde/share/autostart from .kde/Autostart. Everything worked after that!
