Sombra wasn't crappy.
I'm not as harsh on him as some, but all in all he's just not that great.

Each villain has a special trait that defined them.
Discord had the personality which made his episode more fun.
NMM had the background which made her episode more tragic
Chrysalis had the motive which made her episode more intresting
Sombra had the Presence which made his episode more intense.
Saying Sombra was a bad villain is like saying Sauron was one too

I've heard the comparison between Sombra and Sauron before but I think Sombra was somewhat.. the only word I can think of is lacking. I loved the episodes in all but Sombra needed to be a little more ominous I think. I don't think he's the most terrible villain ever, but I don't think he's the best ever either. I do get what you're saying and I agree each villain has their own defining trait, hell Megan Mcarthy even said she was inspired by Sauron when writing Sombra didn't she? I just don't know if they pulled it off completely with Sombra.
That being said I don't think they pulled it off with Nightmare either. Or even Chrysalis the whole time.

IMO Discord is the only villain that only needed Two episodes. the other three needed one more episode or something. with Discord it worked because he was the only one interduced in the episode
Yeah I agree the others needed more than two episodes. The Crystal empire needed to be like a four part or at least a trilogy.
