yeah, he uses actual people to make the characters. photographs them in front of a green screen and then shops them into the image along with whatever small changes might need to be made to their persons. Of course this doesn't hold true for the numerous guest artist strips included in the series, but Alexiuss works with actual models when he does strips. It's the interesting art style that's generated by this practice that drew me into the comic to begin with.
