I read the diary of Ellen, and there literally is no reason for anyone to feel sorry for Ellen, she cared about no one, and cares about no one, she wants to be loved, but that doesn't mean she would care about them in return either, that man in the cell in the top floor? That was her father, (it says so in the book) and she let him suffer in there and go mad, and let her mother who suffered there aswell in a different cell.
