And yeah, sometimes the file become too corrupted and can't open. It happens sometimes. But I guess it's normal, we are after all corrupting the file.xD lol
But yeah, when that happens, I just save the original image in anther format. And remember, don't save them in PNG/GIF/JPG/etc.
They will become too broken.
Make sure it's a bmp, tif or photoshop raw file.

Also, sometimes I can't open it in Photoshop properly so I just open it in MS Paint and save it as a PNG and then open it in Photoshop.
