Yeah. Fat kitty was fun. I liked the little guy. And I don't often like things I do.

You don't? o.0

I have a very hard time being satisfied by anything I do and I tend to have very poor appreciation for my work. Doesn't prevent me from drawing anyway and trying to improve as much as I can. But it's often very depressing :/

I see. =\ Perfectionist or do you have a bit of low self esteem as far as your art skills go?

Unfortunately,"a bit" would be a major understatement. And it doesn't apply just to art skills.

I see. =\ I have low self esteem too, so I know where you're coming from. It's hard, it just never feels like you're good enough, and on the occasion when you actually feel good, just the tiniest little thing that goes wrong is enough to ruin it again.

Yup, that's exactly it. And no matter what you achieve, you end up finding justifications for it. "oh no, but you see that's because they were mistaken about me", "oh no but people helped me so it's their fault I succeeded", "Ah but if you compare me with the shitload of people who do much better than me it's meaningless" etc etc.

What bothers me most with this is that it gets in the way of progress. Motivated, positive people learn faster, work better and are more efficient.

They sometime also have a tendency to blame you for being a depressed asshole on purpose.

Yeah, I know. =\ It sucks. To be honest, though, wether you believe me or not you really are a very talented artist, by far better than most.

Yep. =\ It's easy to lose motivation when you don't feel that any of the stuff you do is good enough.

Oh god, I know that feeling so much. -_- I've had depression for the last 10 years, but the only ones who know are my online friends and my sister, so whenever I look somewhat depressed my mom yells at me 'cause she thinks I look angry, and one of my friends actually told me to pretend to be happy for his sake and stuff like "Smile to the world and the world smiles to you" and "Cheer up. There are people a lot worse off than you". It's very frustrating to hear.
