"You shouldn't be a CV anymore you're rubbish."
(for anyone that might care, read that part of the journal before reading my response here).
If you take on a role as a volunteer and then think that everything will be like a fairy tale, everyone loves what you do, everyone is grateful for what you do, then you're really naive.
It doesn't matter if it's on the internet or in real life, volunteers takes on a quiet big workload, not physical but emotional.(I hope that you don't think in such manners, but hey it might be true).

Because as you state "People stating this in conjunction with a stolen DD being featured are unreasonable. They also are very unlikely to know the extent of what the CV does." that they don't know anything, that they don't understand the difficulty of being a CV is, because of that you set yourself up as target practice.

Why?

Well because that statement is obviously naive, and you most likely didn't think it through with that one, right? Because truth to be told, I find it highly likely that some of them do understand, some do know what kind of job a CV is. Food for thought, "you might have vast knowledge, but everyone else knows more then you can imagine."

Oh of course :) most volunteers who take on the role know that something they do will cause controversy, whether it's a choice in art, an article, a feature or whatever. I think that comes with the territory, it's the internet, there are all sorts on it. :D The point of the article wasn't to try and garner sympathy, more to highlight some myths that are constantly being bandied around. I'm definitely not naive thanks :)

I'm not saying that nobody understands, that wasn't the point at all, I simply highlighted some comments from some naive people, to borrow the word you keep using, and the comments they made indicated quite highly to me that they don't understand. :)

Don't get me wrong, but your choice of words made it look like you where angry
when you wrote it as well as fishing for sympathy.
If we look at the responses this article(as you call it) it's mostly sympathetic,
"understanding" people, that by themselves are contradicting.

But hey that's the kind of response you have to count with after what you wrote,
as it at very least invokes that reaction in many readers,
others will naturally have an opposite reaction to it.
I don't know you as a person nor a CV, so my reaction was based on what you wrote and how you wrote it,
and nothing else.
