This is among the most fascinating features I've ever seen. It's interesting to see how artists depict something like this in different ways and styles. This is actually something I want to paint some day, but until now, I've found the idea a bit intimidating. I've made some attempts at painting Aurora Borealis, but haven't been too happy with the results.

I just love Aurora Borealis. I grew up in Northern Finland, and saw them in real life on several occasions. It was always a magical thing to see, though, and it's something I really miss now that I live in Southern Finland. We do get Northern Lights here on occasion, but they're very rare this far south. One of my favourite memories was seeing them in August (!) at our summer cottage by a lake. With the solar maximum due in 2013, maybe we'll get to see them in more Southern locations, as well.

Oh I totally agree...I would love to paint the Northern Lights too, but it is indeed an intimidating subject. But yeah, I LOVED getting to put this feature together because in the process I discovered such variety in how they were depicted. **Sighs contentedly** Oh I love art. lol

Zomg and you've seen them in real life?? Several times?!?!? **Jealousface** Well I do hope you get them more in the south in 2013! They're pretty, so more people should get to see them!
