My entire costume was handmade. 
Did you just break the heels off of shoes and cover them with...something? XD

Easier said than done! They were a pair of 6" stilettos that I had to surgically remove the heels from (which involved basically disassembling the shoe, they were plastic-formed to the rest of the sole x____x). Then the coverings are made from vinyl to mimic the texture of a bird's feet!
