It's weird she doesn't like them touched since the mass (which she seems to have let overgrow) has zero (or near-zero, negligibly much, anyway) sense of touch or sense of pain since they're made of same material as human fingernails, so she wouldn't be able to tell something was being done without looking. I think she had a bad experience as a very little filly where something hit the sensitive center for some reason and she still has no idea. Or she just thinks that way without prior experience, wouldn't surprise in her case 
The first time as a 3-5yo or something like that I were afraid of the mouth X-ray scanner in the hospital that simply rotates around your head like 10cm away a couple times to see what's the deal with the teeth. Obviously it was for absolutely nothing, which they resolved by first showing how it worked, although it cost one of those film blocks, similar to those used in home cameras on long legs with magnesium as flash back in the old days.
