I see a cobblestone street surface, on a hillside or hilltop coming out of this. The plaza and narrow streets are typical of small rural villages that you seem to be trying to emulate. The small infill greenspaces are very appropriate, I do not see that trees or grass would be appropriate in the larger spaces, as I would expect them to be paved as is typical. Mabe the occasional tree or trees in some form of geometric pattern in street grates to dilineate some formal space.

Okay thanks. I'm thinking only small trees, shrubs, planters etc in the main square. I Do want to work in some greenery though. Yes, grass is actually quite rare in places like Spain and Italy.

I don't really recall planters, except rectangular ones (with round ones at the corners) to deliniate a restaurant's seating area in a large plaza. I do remember trees in street grates on the Cote d'Azur of France. And a dirt pitch to play Boulles.

Boulles! Let's play!! I used to have a set of Boulles. Does that sound obscene?

I have a set or two of metal ones my family got back when we lived in Europe. I do need to get them re-finished, as they have a slight rust haze on them.
