About 99% of all stories made about this series take into account a *normal and reasonable* aging system; So, one sharing the same similarities as humans, since 'human ideas and concepts' are used to create the MLP:FiM universe and most of its content.
Having characters that people would relate to... dieing 3 to 4 times faster/earlier than those you are trying to ''reach'' would REALLY not be a good (or ''happy'') idea, so I doubt (do you have a link/source) that what you say is ''officially official''.
At best, what you claim, it might be a thing that she never really had a definite idea about, and just threw the first thing she thought.
